Oh boy, sackbuts!

Since this is one of the rare times where the Show actually connects to the real world, it is maybe important to make note of my reference material. ...Hopefully it isn't too important, though, since I can only remember about half of it. The text basically comes straight out of a dictionary or encyclopedia. I have a lot of dictionaries and a few encyclopedias. None of them are younger than fifty years old, however, and they are often scant on common knowledge. You know, things like automobiles? Anyway, I couldn't find a picture of a blinkin' sackbut anywhere in all of my vast reference material. It wasn't until just a few weeks ago when I was at the Amherst Early Music Festival that I not only saw a bunch of sackbut but actually got to hear people play them. (What would those folks be? Sackbutters?) Despite the humor inherent in the name (words like "sackbut" make me giggle) it is a really beautiful instrument, very cool.

I stole the line "Here comes the sound" from Man or Astroman. They used a sample of that line in one of their songs. I don't know where they stole it from.
